CANTON, Mo. – The Rams completed in the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, with Cornell men finishing fifth out of 16 teams and the women taking fifth out of 14 teams. The men crowned three event champions.
Picking up first-place finishes for the Rams were
Ike Claussen-Tubbs in the high jump (6-5),
Easton Mai in the 3000-meter steeplecase (10:29.81) and
Chase Staker in the 400 (48.98).
Luke Wiley finished second to Mai in the steeplechase with a time of 10:51.45. Junior
Brody Williams finished fourth in the hammer throw, with a toss of 162-10.
Caleb Long finished fifth (4:11.39) in the 1500-meters and Tony Zamudio crossed the line just behind him in sixth with a time of 4:14.11. In the 800,
Jamie Briggs (1:57.41) and
Jake Bach (1:57.68) finished fifth and sixth respectively.
In the women 3000-meter steeplechase
Carley Seeley finished second (11:56.98),
Gretchyn Fairlie took fourth (12:18.10) and
Sophie Stumbo came across in sixth (13:00.36).
Senior
Hailey Carolan placed in both hurdle events, finishing second in 100 hurdles (15.90) and fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:08.31). Freshmen
Cora Talbert (100 hurdles) and
Jayda Carnes (400) each picked up a sixth-place finish.
The women's 4x100 relay team finished third with a time of 50.95 and the men's 4x100 relay team took sixth with a time of 42.95.
Coming up – The Rams will have select athletes competing at Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola on Thursday (meet starts at 4:00 pm.). Cornell will have select athletes taking part in the Drake Relays Friday and Saturday in Des Moines.
