INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After being ranked in the top eight in the opening week of the
NCAA Region VII Rankings,
Michaela Clark ranks number five on the singles list for the release of April 23rd.
Clark posted two wins at the No. 1 spot this past weekend. She defeated Wartburg's Reese Williams 6-2 6-1 in the opening match on Sunday. Clark's second singles victory came over the number sixth ranked Chloe Regal of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 6-1 6-3.
Clark is now 21-5 in singles overall on the season, boasting an 18-2 record at the No. 1 singles spot for the Rams.
The Rams finished the regular season 24-3 overall and finished 4-2 in MWC play. Cornell next plays the MWC team tournament as the No. 3 seed on May 2nd against Lake Forest College in Madison, WI.
The NCAA Region VII ranks seven teams, eight singles players plus four in consideration, and six doubles pairs plus two in consideration. In the final edition of the rankings at the end of the season, the top two singles players, and top doubles pair earn automatic bids to the NCAA Singles & Doubles national tournaments.
