DES MOINES – Cornell's men's 4x200 relay made the most of a second chance at the Drake Relays Friday night at Jim Duncan Track.

Hadley Beaty raced around the blue oval in a school-record time of 1:27.11. They crushed their own school record of 1:28.41 set last season.
The Rams took third in their heat and placed 11th overall out of 19 finishers in the University/College Division. South Dakota State was crowned champion in 1:24.18.
On Friday morning, Staker anchored the same Cornell foursome to an apparent school-record tying mark (42:02) in the 4x100 relay. However, the team was disqualified due to a lane infraction.

Mackenzie Engbert placed 11th out of 14 finishers with a mark of 4:16.55. Loras captured the white flag in 4:01.33.
In other action Friday at Simpson's Kip Janvrin Open, Cornell junior
Jake Bach posted the 23rd-fastest time in Division III in the men's 1500-meter run.
Bach crossed the finish in 3:51.35, less than two seconds off the school record held by his teammate
Isaac vanWestrienen. Bach placed 11th out of 102 finishers in the event, won by South Dakota State's Cade Sanvik (3:47.30).
Sophomore
Carley Seeley placed 23rd out of 36 competitors in the women's 3000 steeplechase. She was time in 12:09.24.
Coming up – Cornell has three more events in action Saturday at Drake. The women's distance medley relay runs at 8:40 a.m., followed by the men's distance medley at 9:25 a.m.
Hailey Carolan competes in the women's high jump at 12 p.m.
