MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's
Isaac vanWestrienen,
Jake Bach and
Ava Claussen-Tubbs have been recognized with
All-Midwest Region awards for the 2026 outdoor track & field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The region's top eight individuals in each event earned the distinction.
VanWestrienen garnered all-region status in the men's 1500 (second, 3:48.60), 5000 (first, 13:53.13) and 10000 (first, 28:52.66). The senior is the NCAA Division III leader in both the 5000 and 10000 races.
VanWestrienen has now gathered 14 career all-region awards in track & field.
Bach, a junior, was named all-region in the men's 1500 (fourth, 3:49.42). He was indoor all-region in the mile.
Claussen-Tubbs earned all-region in the women's 800 (eighth, 2:10.12), after the senior also claimed indoor honors in the event.
VanWestrienen and Claussen-Tubbs continue their record-breaking seasons at this week's NCAA Championships in La Crosse, Wis.
VanWestrienen competes in the 10000 at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, and the 5000 at 3:25 p.m. Saturday. He's the top seed in both races.
Claussen-Tubbs runs the 800 prelims at 2:20 p.m. Friday. She is seeded 15th out of 22 qualifiers.
