MENOMONIE, Wis. – Cornell was turned back in
Francis Lee's collegiate head coaching debut Tuesday night with a 5-0 women's soccer setback to UW-Stout at Nelson Field.
In the teams' first meeting since 2021, UW-Stout (1-0) gained early control by netting three goals over the opening 22 minutes of action. The Blue Devils struck twice more in the second half, scoring in the 53rd and 80th minute.
Sophomore
Violet Fiers played all 90 minutes in her first collegiate start at goalkeeper for the Rams. She registered six saves against the Blue Devils, who attempted 26 total shots.
Gracie Lambrecht and first-year
Rebecca Huerth paced Cornell's attack with two shots apiece.
Mia Belitz added one attempt.
