CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell's women's soccer team stayed within striking distance into the second half before rival Coe pulled away for a 5-1 Bremner Cup victory Wednesday night at Clark Field.
The Rams (2-4), who netted nine goals in two wins last weekend, found the back of the net early in this one on an unassisted goal by sophomore
Gracie Lambrecht. Lambrecht's first score of the season brought Cornell within 2-1 at the 15-minute mark.
Coe (2-4) gained breathing room on a goal in the 61st minute, pushing the margin to 3-1. The Kohawks scored twice more in the final 12 minutes of regulation.
Lambrecht accounted for two of Cornell's five shots for the night.
Eva Plathe and
Rebecca Huerth also had one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Violet Fiers faced 21 shots from the Kohawks. She collected four saves over the full 90 minutes.
The Kohawks now hold a 3-0 lead in the
2026-27 Bremner Cup All-Sport Series. The next competition is women's tennis Sept. 27 in Mount Vernon.
