Ryan Stensland

Stensland is in his first season on Cornell’s baseball staff after a successful 11-year run as head baseball coach at Lisbon High School.

Stensland carries 16 years of high school coaching experience, which includes stints as an assistant at Eagle Grove and Norwalk. A 1996 graduate of Eagle Grove High School, Stensland graduated from Central College in 2000 with degrees in Business Management-Finance and Political Science.

During his time at Lisbon, Stensland won 250 games while leading the Lions to four conference championships, three district and substate titles and three appearances in the Iowa State Baseball Tournament. His 2012 team finished the season 35-8 and reached the state semifinals. Lisbon had more than a dozen players recognized with all-state honors under Stensland’s guidance.

Stensland was honored as Class 1A Northeast District Coach of the Year in 2012.

Stensland is currently a member of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association and serves on the organization’s Board of Directors.

Stensland is a communications program manager for Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids.

Stensland and his wife Abbe, who coaches Mock Trial at Cornell, reside in the Mount Vernon area. They have twin sons, Linc and Isaac, 9, and a daughter, Ella, 4.
