Cornell College

Wheeler, a current assistant coach at Solon High School, begins his first season on Seth Wing’s Cornell staff in 2015.

Wheeler has been head freshman and assistant varsity baseball coach at Solon since 2011. The Spartans were crowned Class 3A Iowa state champions in 2011 and have won two conference titles and two district championships under Wheeler’s guidance.

Wheeler, a 1993 graduate of Anamosa High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Morningside (Sioux City) College in 2004. He played baseball 2 ½ years as a middle infielder at Morningside. Wheeler received a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Phoenix in 2011. 

Wheeler is a third-grade teacher in the Lisbon Community School District. He resides in Solon with his wife Wendy and two children: Payton, 12, and Tyson, 8.
