Zilaitis, one of the most accomplished throwers in Cornell history, joined the Rams track & field staff in January 2018. He serves as throws coach for the men’s and women’s teams.
Zilaitis, a 2017 Cornell graduate, capped a record-setting career with all-America medals in the shot put (sixth place) and weight throw (eighth place) at the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. As a senior, Zilaitis was tabbed Central Region Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and Midwest Conference Outdoor Field Performer of the Year.
Zilaitis claimed MWC titles his senior season in the shot put (indoor and outdoor) and hammer throw (outdoor). The Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., native left his mark on the program as a five-time NCAA qualifier, four-time MWC champion and 15-time all-MWC performer.
Zilaitis holds school records in the discus (159-8), weight throw (60-1) and hammer throw (189-2).
Zilaitis was also a standout tight end on Cornell’s football team, gaining all-MWC honors three years.
Zilaitis earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. Upon graduation, he worked as a personal trainer at Latow’s Fitness & Nutrition in Orange City, Fla.
