Brown, a former defensive tackle at the University of Iowa (1995-99), joined Cornell’s staff in 2020 as defensive line coach.

Prior to arriving in Mount Vernon, Brown was defensive line coach for two seasons at Rutgers University (2018-19). He spent four seasons coaching the defensive line at Miami Ohio (2014-17), following a two-year stint as a defensive graduate assistant at Notre Dame (2012-13).

A native of Houston, Texas, Brown coached an all-MAC defensive lineman in each of his four years at Miami. He helped lead the 2017 defensive unit that ranked 14th nationally in red zone defense.

While at Notre Dame, Brown was a member of the 2012 staff that guided the Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship Game after going 12-0 in the regular season. That team allowed only four rushing touchdowns all season and held eight opponents under 100 yards rushing. Brown coached defensive end Stephon Tuitt and defensive tackle Louis Nix, both of whom went in the top three rounds of the NFL Draft.
 
Brown was defensive line and strength and conditioning coach at Iowa Western Community College (2008-11), helping six players earn scholarships at FBS schools. He coached one all-American and eight all-region/all-conference players.
 
From 2006-07, Brown served as defensive line and strength and conditioning coach at North Iowa Area Community College.
 
Brown graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005 with a sociology degree. He was a member of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team from 1995-99. As a senior, he started all 11 games at defensive tackle and earned the team’s defensive hustle award.
 
Upon graduation, Brown played five years on the defensive and offensive line for the Quad City Steam Wheelers in the Arena Football League 2. He helped the Steam Wheelers claim back-to-back AFL2 championships.
 
Brown and his wife Susan have a son Blaze. Brown has two daughters, Erin and Kayla.
