Arias, a native of Morgan Hill, Calif., joined Cornell’s football staff in 2018 as defensive backs coach.

Arias played football two seasons (2007-08) for current Ram head coach Vince Brautigam at the University of Dubuque. A two-year letterwinner in the secondary, Arias was part of Dubuque’s record-setting 7-3 squad in 2007.

Prior to landing at Dubuque, Arias played two years at Gavilan (Calif.) College. He helped lead Gavilan to the conference championship in 2006.

Arias returned to Gavilan in 2009 and was defensive backs coach there until 2013. The team ranked second among California junior colleges with 19 interceptions in 2009. In the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Gavilan ranked second in the state in pass defense.

Arias earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017. He was assistant coach at Independence (Iowa) High School in 2017, working with the defensive backs and wide receivers.

Arias and his wife Jenica reside in Independence with their three young daughters Kyla, Kensley and Emery.
