Murakawa, a 2016 Cornell graduate and four-year letterwinner for the Rams, joined Cornell’s football staff as outside linebackers coach in 2019.

A native of Waipahu, Hawaii, Murakawa played four seasons at linebacker for the Rams. He was named 2013 Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year and was recipient of the 2015 Team Defensive Coaches’ Award. Murakawa earned academic all-Midwest Conference honors his junior season.

Murakawa teaches physical education at Mount Vernon Middle School. He also is assistant high school wrestling coach and middle school track & field coach at Mount Vernon.

Murakawa earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell in education and kinesiology.
