Doyle was named to the Cornell basketball staff on April 22, 2010. The Wheaton, Ill., native will serve as the program's recruiting coordinator and assist in day-to-day basketball operations.
Doyle comes to the Hilltop after serving four years as an assistant at Elmhurst (Ill.) College. He is a 2006 graduate of North Central (Ill.) College, where he played for and then coached with Murray.
"Dan will be a great asset to our program, having played for us and been in our system. He knows the ins and outs of what we do and what we expect," Murray said. "Dan and I worked closely together when he was a student assistant at North Central and I consider him a friend. I am excited to begin working with Dan and building Cornell into a nationally-recognized Division III program."
Doyle was a three-year basketball letterwinner at North Central and earned a bachelor's degree in history in spring 2006. He was a senior player during Murray's first year as an assistant in Naperville, Ill. Doyle joined Murray on the coaching staff the following season as a student assistant.
Working together on North Central's staff in 2005-06, the Cardinals claimed their first ever College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament title, posted a school-record 22 wins and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time since 1990.
"This is a great step forward to be at Cornell," Doyle said. "I get to start something new with Chad in building this program. I look to continue the great relationship we had at North Central."
Doyle moved on to Elmhurst in 2006-07 and helped the Bluejays to 59 wins and a pair of runner-up finishes in the CCIW during his first three seasons. Elmhurst's 2008-09 squad gained an at-large berth to the national tournament and fielded three all-conference players, including two all-region performers and one all-American.
"Dan went to a very good Elmhurst program, which has a great tradition that I respect a lot," Murray said. "We will utilize his four years at Elmhurst and what he took with him from North Central. He has gotten better every year from a coaching stand point."
Doyle graduated from Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) High School in 2001. He played basketball one season at Loras College prior to transferring to North Central.
