Ottoson, a high school head boys’ basketball coach in eastern Iowa for 40 years, joined Cornell's staff on the sidelines in 2017-18.

Ottoson compiled 377 victories during coaching stints at Amana (1976-1988), Marion (1989-95) and Clear Creek Amana (1996-2016). He retired from teaching and coaching in 2016.

A 1976 graduate of Coe College, Ottoson was a member of four NCAA Tournament teams during his playing days with the Kohawks. His senior season, Ottoson started on Coe’s 23-1 squad that was ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III.

Ottoson and his wife, Chris, reside in Cedar Rapids. They have two daughters (Angie and Kristie) and two grandsons (Carter and Brady).
