Box Score INDIANOLA – Cornell's men's tennis team made it 2-0 against the American Rivers Conference with Thursday's 6-3 dual win at Simpson.
The Rams (2-0), who beat Dubuque on Monday, remained tough at the top of the lineup. They swept the No. 1-4 singles matches and also won handily in the top two doubles bouts.
No. 1 player Shoma Kishimoto (SR/Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) led the way, yielding only one game in his singles victory. The Rams also received decisive wins from a trio of first-year players in Federico Polidori (FR/Miami Beach, Fla.) (6-1, 6-1), Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf (FR/La Jolla, Calif.) (6-4, 6-2) and Chris Penas-Hull (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) (6-1, 6-3).
Kishimoto, Polidori, Hadler-Strumlauf and Penas-Hull all improved their season records to 4-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Kishimoto and Hadler-Strumlauf teamed for an 8-2 win. Polidori and Penas-Hull won 8-3 at the No. 2 position.
Simpson (0-1) prevailed 8-4 over Cornell's No. 3 doubles team of Michael Coester (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Bryce Fincher (SO/Lafayette, Colo.).
Coming up – The Rams head to Davenport Saturday for a noon meet with NAIA's St. Ambrose.
