Box Score MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's tennis team was dealt an 8-1 dual loss to Greenville Saturday in the Small Sport Center Arena.
Freshman No. 1 singles player Federico Polidori (FR/Miami Beach, Fla.) pulled out Cornell's lone individual win in straight sets – 6-2, 7-5 – over Luke Motsinger. Polidori improved his season record to 4-2.
Cornell's Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf (FR/La Jolla, Calif.) had an impressive undefeated start to the season snapped in a tightly-contested 8-6 loss at No. 1 doubles with partner Polidori. Hadler-Strumlauf also came up short in singles for the first time with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-1 loss to Austin Burkhart at the No. 2 position in the lineup.
Hadler-Strumlauf moved his overall record to 10-2.
Drew Arnold (JR/Georgetown, Texas) was in a battle at No. 4 singles. He was edged in a third-set tiebreaker against Mathew Rodriguez by scores of 6-1, 1-6, 13-11.
Cornell's No. 2 doubles tandem of Chris Penas-Hull (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) and Alejandro Colorado (JR/Antiguo Cuscatlan, El Salvador) lost 8-3. Arnold and Bryce Fincher (SO/Lafayette, Colo.) fell 8-4 at No. 3.
