Hadler-Strumlauf garners MWC weekly tennis accolade

MOUNT VERNON – Cornell freshman Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf (FR/La Jolla, Calif.) has been selected Midwest Conference Men's Tennis Performer of the Week for the period of April 12-18.

Hadler-Strumlauf picked up four wins in as many chances last week, guiding the Rams to a 2-0 start to the MWC season. Cornell scored dual victories over Illinois College, 8-1, and Monmouth, 6-3.

Hadler-Strumlauf improved his impressive singles record to 11-2 with a pair of wins at the No. 2 position in the lineup. He recorded a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Illinois College and also won handily against Monmouth, 6-0, 6-2.

At No. 1 doubles, Hadler-Strumlauf partnered with freshman Federico Polidori (FR/Miami Beach, Fla.) for an 8-3 win over Illinois College and a hard-fought 8-7 (5) victory over Monmouth.

Hadler-Strumlauf is 8-5 in doubles matches this season.  

The Rams (7-6 overall) are in Grinnell today for a 4 p.m. dual against the defending MWC champion Pioneers.
