MOUNT VERNON – Cornell had four players recognized with
Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference postseason awards Thursday, headlined by First Team All-MWLC defender
Seanne Bialo.
Bialo earned a spot on the 15-player first unit. The senior record holder is the first Ram to gain first team accolades since 2015 (
Kelly Oeltjenbruns).

Sydney Swift represented Cornell on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Bialo shattered Cornell's record for ground balls in a season with 75, leading the conference in that category. The two-time MWLC Defensive Performer of the Week ranked third in the league with 40 caused turnovers, also a program record. Bialo was second on the team with 31 draw controls in 15 starts.
In only two seasons with Cornell's program, Bialo climbed to No. 2 on the career list for caused turnovers (52) and No. 4 for ground balls (113). She owns career records for ground balls per game (4.71) and caused turnovers per game (2.33).
Deer was the focal point of Cornell's offense, posting a school-record and MWLC-best 20 assists while leading the team with 52 points and 32 goals. The two-time MWLC Offensive Performer of the Week finished second in the league in points and fifth in goals. Deer set single-game records for points (11) and assists (6) in an 18-3 win over Marian.
A four-year starter, Deer finished her career as the Rams' all-time leader in assists (33), assists per game (0.72) and points per game (2.57). Her 118 total points are second-most by a Cornell player. Deer scored 85 career goals, ranking third all-time.
Smith had an impactful first season with the Rams, ranking second in the MWLC behind Bialo with 69 ground balls. She stood fourth in the conference with 28 caused turnovers, the second-best season total in Cornell history. Smith netted 10 goals with an efficient .526 shot percentage.
Swift finished seventh in the conference with 28 goals, including 10 free-position scores that led the team. The three-year starter ranks in Cornell's career top five for points (72) and goals (68).
The Rams concluded the season at 6-9 overall, 1-4 in the MWLC. The team was one win short of qualifying for the MWLC Tournament.
