Kali March and
Heidi Jorgensen buried five 3-pointers apiece in Saturday's 64-55 road setback to Luther in women's basketball action inside Luther Field House.
March went 5-of-11 from downtown and finished with a game-high 18 points. The senior guard also had five rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Rams (4-7), who were within 52-50 with less than six minutes left to play.
March climbed to eighth place on Cornell's career list for steals (152) and ninth for made 3-point goals (108).
After the Norse (6-4) gained separation with a 7-0 run down the stretch, Jorgensen hit a 3-pointer that brought the Rams within striking distance at 61-55 with 2:08 remaining. Cornell was held scoreless the rest of the way.
Jorgensen, a freshman guard, tossed in a career-high 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field.
Ani'ja Simmons was the third Cornell scorer to reach double figures with 12 points, to go along with seven rebounds.
Mia Murray led the Rams with eight rebounds.
Tenley Cavanagh dished three assists.
The Rams made all nine of their free throws, although were still outscored by eight points from the foul line. Luther, which received 33 points off its bench, held a 41-33 rebounding advantage.
Coming up – Cornell travel to play NCAA Division I Western Illinois University (8-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Macomb, Ill.
