ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Cornell's
Alyza Koppes enjoyed another lifetime-best run to garner all-region status at Saturday's Midwest Region Cross Country Championships on Saukie Golf Course.
Koppes covered the 6K course in 22:47 and finished 31st out of 210 competitors. The junior improved by 13 places and 29 seconds from last year's regional.
Koppes became the program's first all-region women's honoree since 2018 (Dominique Fleming).
Koppes was joined by a quartet of first-year runners that made up Cornell's scoring five.
Lidia Dahlman capped a fine freshman season in 46th place with a mark of 23:21.
Carley Seeley finished 70th with a new PR in 24:03.
Amelia Dahl was 100th (24:38) in her regional debut. Freshman
Milar Little took 127th in 25:13.
Sophomores
Sophie Stumbo and
Zoe Peesel placed 140th (25:57) and 143rd (25:59), respectively, to round out Cornell's lineup.
The young Rams earned one point in the
2024-25 Bremner Cup All-Sports Series with a 19-36 win over rival Coe in head-to-head dual scoring.
Cornell's women finished a strong 13th in the 28-team field with 364 points. That is the program's lowest regional scoring total since 2016.
Chicago won the team championship with 36 points and fielded the individual champion in Evelyn Battleson-Gunkel (21:11).
