MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's cross country team will open the new season with a Top 10 regional ranking.
The Rams are ranked No. 6 in the Midwest Region in the
USTFCCCA Preseason Poll. It marks Cornell's highest regional women's rating in coach
Jerry Frawley's five seasons at the helm.
Chicago is No. 1 in the Midwest Region, followed by Wash U, Wartburg, Central and Wheaton.
Cornell returns six runners from last year's regional lineup that finished 13th, the program's best showing since 2016. Senior front runner
Alyza Koppes placed 31st to earn all-region status.
The Rams open competition Friday at Loras' Bob Schultz Invitational in Dubuque. The women's race starts at 6:30 p.m.
