BELOIT, Wis. – Cornell's women's lacrosse team left little doubt to its second victory of the season, scoring nine times in the opening half of Saturday's 15-6 road win over Beloit at Strong Stadium.
The Rams beat the Buccaneers for the sixth consecutive time in the series and improved to 2-0 this spring.
Cornell put a 9-1 first-half blitz on Beloit, fueled by three goals from
India Smith, who added two assists in the second half.
Cece Zanoni paced Cornell's attack with four goals and two assists. The Rams also received three goals apiece from
Meg Lewis and
Sabrina Ibanez.
Brynn Miroslavich and
Anna Methe each scored once.
Alexis Partida,
Ilsa Jeffery and Smith finished with three caused turnovers apiece for Cornell, which hurried the Buccaneers into 26 turnovers.
Winning goalie
Hannah Miech yielded just two goals and had four saves over 30 minutes.
Kathryn Andries came on to work the second half.
