MOUNT VERNON – Cornell celebrated the start of Spring Break in record-setting style, dominating NAIA's Mount Mercy in a 19-1 home-opening women's lacrosse win Wednesday night at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.

Meredith Meier's Rams (3-0) notched their third consecutive lopsided victory and have now outscored their first three foes by a combined 55-12 margin. Nine different Rams registered a goal against the Mustangs (0-3).
Cornell's 11 assists tied the program standard and the 30 points were just one shy.
Junior midfielder
Meg Lewis won 13 draw controls to break the single-game school record of 10, set by Emily Beehler in 2021 and tied by Lewis last season.
Cece Zanoni had a dynamic night with five goals, five assists, six ground balls and six caused turnovers. The junior matched her career high with 10 points, one short of the program record.
India Smith tallied four goals, five assists and six ground balls.
Anna Methe delivered three goals, while
Hailey Sieler had two. Lewis,
Sabrina Ibanez,
Claire Chekytis,
Autum Hirsch and
Savannah Sheffler each found the back of the net once.

Kathryn Andries each worked 30 minutes in goal for the Rams, who held a 51-7 advantage in total shots.
The Rams exploded for eight first-quarter goals and built a 14-0 lead by halftime.
