MOUNT VERNON – Cornell landed four football student-athletes on the
2024 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators.
Senior running back/punter
Tony Gomez (biochemistry and molecular biology) was recognized for combined performance on the field and in the classroom for the third year in a row.
Junior wide receiver
Gavin Soukup (elementary education) earned the distinction for the second consecutive season. Sophomore kicker
Mitchell Frahm (undecided) and sophomore defensive back
Joshua Martin (engineering) also received all-academic honors.
The CSC Academic All-America Teams will be announced Jan. 28.
To be eligible for academic all-district recognition, the nominee must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing, hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and have competed in 90 percent of the institution's contests OR started at least 66 percent of the institution's contests.
