MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell women's lacrosse team dropped their match Saturday to a very talented UW-River Falls team 22-1 at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
The Falcons (1-0) hot start consisted of nine goals before the Rams (0-2) got on the board. At the 5:45 mark in the second quarter Senior
Cece Zanoni scored an unassisted goal for the Rams.
The Rams battled hard throughout the game, but the UW-River Falls defense was too much for the Rams allowing only six shots for the match.
Ilsa Jeffery and
Hannah Miech picked up four ground balls each for the Rams. Freshman
Leila Velez added three ground balls.
Goalie Miech had eight save for the Rams and Velez stopped three shot on goal.
Samantha Hayek had nine points (six goals and three assists) and Brooke Glumack added eight points (two goals and six assists) for the Falcons.
Coming up – The Rams play at home Wednesday against Augustana (Ill.). Game starts at 4 p.m. at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
