MOUNT VERNON – Sophomore
Brian Petry will represent Cornell's men's wrestling team at this week's
NCAA Division III Championships at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, R.I.
Petry makes his national debut in the 165-pound bracket, after taking third at the Region VI Championships March 1.
The NCAA Championships get underway at 9 a.m. (Central Time) Friday. The quarterfinals are scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday.
Session III begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with semifinal matches, followed by the finals at 6 p.m.

Petry carries a 31-8 record into the 21-man division at 165. He opens against Augsburg's third-seeded and two-time all-American Cooper Willis (27-1).

Petry is 1-5 this season against the tournament field, which features seven returning qualifiers and four all-Americans from 2024. Nicholas Sacco of The College of New Jersey is the defending champion, while Alvernia's Matt Lackman (third), Willis (fifth) and Loras' Dustin Bohren (seventh) all placed a year ago.
Petry finished 4-1 as the No. 6 seed at the Region VI Championships. He secured an NCAA automatic bid with a 6-3 sudden victory over Wartburg's Aiden Brosinki in the third-place bout.
Petry has recorded 17 bonus-point wins this season, including six technical falls and five pins. He's won 11 of his last 13 matches.
Petry is Cornell's fourth NCAA qualifier under head coach

Gabriel Smith is the program's last all-American, placing seventh at 157 in 2024.
