Brent Hamm's Cornell men's wrestling team has been recognized for excellence on the mat and in the classroom with a program-best nine
Division III Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2024-25 season.
Cornell's honorees include fifth-year
Treyten Steffen (197 pounds, kinesiology health & physical education), seniors
Landon Card (149, biochemistry & molecular biology and religion) and
Cael McLaren (184, kinesiology), juniors
Jackson Brinker (285, environmental justice & sustainability),
Jayden Rael (133, engineering) and
Eli Sneed (133, engineering), sophomores
Brian Petry (165, biochemistry & molecular biology) and
AJ Parrish (157, engineering) and freshman
Jace Nelson-Brown (174, kinesiology).
The Rams have now landed 35 NWCA Scholar All-Americans in Hamm's seven seasons at the helm.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a 3.2 grade point average and meet one of the following athletic criteria: place in the top eight at the regional tournament, or wrestle at least 15 matches with a winning percentage of at least 66.0 percent.
The Rams also earned the distinction as an
NWCA Men's Scholar Top 30 Team. Cornell compiled a team grade point average of 3.50.
McLaren is a four-time NWCA Scholar All-American. He placed fifth at regionals and finished his final collegiate season with a 27-6 record.
Brinker and Card were both honored for the third consecutive year. Brinker finished 17-13 and took seventh at regionals. Card was fifth at regionals and finished 29-9.
Steffen and Rael received the award for the second year in a row. Steffen placed fifth in the regional and shared the team lead in wins with a 33-7 mark. Rael finished 14-6.
Petry qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third-place showing at regionals. He went 2-2 in his first appearance at nationals and finished the season at 33-10.
Sneed (sixth), Parrish (fourth) and Nelson-Brown (eighth) all were regional placewinners. Sneed finished the campaign 25-15, Parrish 15-13 and Nelson-Brown 13-11.
The Rams enjoyed one of their most successful dual seasons with a 14-5 record. They were ranked No. 13 nationally in the final NWCA Dual Poll.
