MOUNT VERNON – Cornell men's lacrosse team put seven goals on the board in the fourth quarter to defeat non-conference foe Clarke 14-9 Saturday at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
Sophomore
Charley Kobets scored three of his team high four goals in the fourth to help the Rams (3-1) overcome an 8-7 deficit.
Ash Hoelscher (two goals),
Kaden Weaver,
Matt Norwood (three goals) and
Tyler Foster (two goals) each added a goal in the deciding final frame.
Senior goalie
Thomas Cook played a stellar game in the net with 16 saves and only allowed nine goals to a Clarke (1-2) team that came in averaging 15.5 goals per game.
Torii Greiskalns led the Rams defense with six caused turnovers and 10 ground balls. Hoelscher won 15-21 faceoff opportunities and picked up 10 ground balls.
The Rams outshot Clarke 54-37 and picked up 55 ground balls to Clarke's 27 in the victory.
