MOUNT VERNON – Cornell women's lacrosse team lit up the scoreboard against a non-conference foe Saturday afternoon in a 14-8 victory over Elmhurst University at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
The Rams (2-2) started hot scoring six goals in the first frame to take a 6-4 lead. Then finished with authority, scoring five goals in the fourth quarter.
Junior's
Sabrina Ibanez and
Brynn Miroslavich led the high-flying Rams with four goals and two assists each. Ibanez scored three goals in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
Hailey Sieler added three goals,
Meg Lewis had three points (one goal and two assists) for Cornell.
Ava Ferencz and
Natalie Hudgins each scored a goal,
Cece Zanoni added two assists for the Rams.
Hannah Miech and
Leila Velez each worked one half at goalie and combined for six saves.
Cornell out shot Elmhurst (2-2) 40-17 and forced 27 Elmhurst turnovers.
