CHICAGO, Ill. – Cornell women's lacrosse traveled to Illinois Tech on Saturday looking to improve their chances of hosting a first-round conference tournament game. The Rams came away with a 17-2 victory over the Scarlet Hawks (1-13, 0-6 NACC) at Stuart Field, improving to 5-1 in the NACC. With three games remaining, the Rams are in third place in the Conference, the top four teams will host first round home games.
Cornell (7-5, 5-1 NACC) took control of the game early scoring four unanswered goals.
Hailey Sieler picked up the first goal for the Rams on an assist from
Sabrina Ibanez at the 11:11 mark of the first period. Ibanez added two goals and
Cheyenne Greenenwald scored a goal on one of
Cece Zanoni two assists in the period. The Rams scored seven goals in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth
Senior
Cece Zanoni finished the game with 10 points (four goals and six assists). Her six assists tied Nina Deer (2022) for Cornell's single game assist record. Junior
Hailey Sieler scored a career high four goals for the Rams.
Natalie Hudgins and Ibanez had three goals apiece. Greenenwald pick up two goals and
Ava Ferencz had one goal.
Hannah Miech picked up the win for the Rams playing the first half, finishing with four saves and two ground balls.
Kathryn Andries and
Leila Velez each played a quarter in the net for Cornell.
Senior
Meg Lewis had another complete game for the Rams picking up two assists, caused two turnovers, picked up four ground balls and snagged five draw controls. Ibanez had two assists and three draw controls.
Natalie Hudgins picked up five ground balls and
Ilsa Jeffery added three. Sieler had two caused turnovers. Jeffery, Ibanez and
Elissafe Moreno each had a caused turnover.
