MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's volleyball program has been recognized for academic excellence by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the 13th consecutive season, the longest such streak in the Midwest Conference.
The Rams earned the
AVCA Academic Team Award for the 2024-25 academic year, gaining the honor for the 20th time in head coach
Jeff Meeker's 23 seasons at the helm.
Initiated in 1992-93, the award honors volleyball teams that maintained a year-long grade point average of 3.30. More than 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the distinction.
Cornell's team accumulated a 3.65 GPA.
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court success during the 2024-25 season has extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."
The 2024 Rams also excelled on the court, winning their 12th consecutive MWC regular-season championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time since 2011. Cornell finished the campaign at 19-12.
