RIVER FALLS, WI – Cornell women's lacrosse team went on the road Friday night to face a talented UW-River Falls team, falling 16-2 at Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
The Falcons (1-2) jumped out early, scoring the first eight goals of the game. At the eight-minute mark of the second period freshman
Evi Reedy found the back of the net for the Rams first goal, freshman
Cassie Clay picked up the assist.
UW-River Falls put six more on the board before
Ava Ferencz scored late in the third period for the Rams, to make it 14-2. The Falcons tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Cornell (0-2) picked up 23 ground balls on the night, led by
Hannah Miech with five and
Brynn Miroslavich picking up four.
The Rams caused nine turnovers, with
Kailey McFarlin and Ferencz leading the way with two each. Senior
Sabrina Ibanez had five draw controls for Cornell.
The Rams were held to five shots for game by the stingy Falcon defense. UW-River Falls took 48 shots, 36 on goal.

Hannah Miech played the entire game in the net for Cornell. Miech finished with 20 saves, which tied the single game school record.
Coming up – Rams travel to Bloomington, Ill. on Wednesday to face off against Illinois Wesleyan. Game time is 6:00 pm.
