MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's wrestling program sent their seniors off on an emphatic note in their final home dual with a 51-0 stomping of UW-Oshkosh Friday night inside the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
Cornell's eight seniors were honored prior to the meet, and the five in the lineup all notched victories as the Rams (5-6) recorded their most lopsided dual win of the season.
The Rams tallied bonus points in nine of the 10 matches, powered by six technical falls. The team piled up 42 near-fall points and held a decisive 30-3 advantage in takedowns.
A trio of seniors set the tone for the 59-minute dual, starting with technical falls by
Jase Van Pelt at 125 (16-0 over JP Culver in 2:36) and
Eli Sneed at 133 (17-2 over Ryan Hanson in 4:42). Van Pelt and Sneed recorded their 72nd and 78th career victories, respectively.
Senior 141-pounder
Elliot Cooney continued momentum with a 9-8 comeback over Logan Harel. Cooney rallied from a 6-3 deficit in the third period, capped by the go-ahead takedown late.
Seniors
Landen Schemmel at 184 and 12th-ranked
Jackson Brinker at 197 also closed their home careers in style with bonus-point wins. Schemmel earned five takedowns in his 19-4 technical fall in 4:19.
Brinker needed only 1:24 to pin Desmond Walker. It was Brinker's 40th career pin, moving him into a tie with Pat McAuley (2004-08) for No. 7 on Cornell's all-time list. Brinker's 91st victory in a Ram singlet vaulted him past head coach
Brent Hamm (2011-15) and Casey Allen (2018-23) for 29th place in program history.
At 149,
Owen Adlfinger continued his strong freshman campaign with a third-period pin in 5:16.
The Rams received technical falls from 13th-ranked
AJ Parrish at 157 (18-2 over Caidan Ronning in 6:24), eighth-ranked
Brian Petry at 165 (21-5 over Logan Andrews in 4:35) and
Nolan Howell at 174 (16-1 over Nathan Messman in 4:01).

Coming up – The Rams will send their purple squad to the Dubuque Invitational Sunday. Action gets underway at 11 a.m.
