WINTER HAVEN, FL – Cornell baseball team prevailed in a wild game against Penn St. Brandywine (4-5) on Tuesday at Chain O'Lakes Complex, 12-10.
In a game that started two hours later than scheduled, saw the two teams combining for 25 hits against 11 different pitchers.
Cornell (4-4) took the early lead in the bottom of the first when
Caleb Smith singled to center field, scoring
Jackson Hill and
Luke Hull.
The Rams scored multiple runs in the fourth (4), fifth (3) and sixth (2) innings, which put them in position for the win.
Cornell had 11 hits in the game, with
Elias Diaz and Smith finishing with three hits apiece.
Seth Lopez and Hill each had two. Hill provided a double, which was the only extra base hit for the Rams.
Lopez had three RBIs for the Rams and Smith plated two. Cornell had five different players with multiple runs scored, Hill scored three times and Hull,
Landon Moore,
Max Mohapp and Diaz crossed the place twice each.
Garrett Roehl started the game for the Rams, going four innings to pick up the win. Roehl allowed three runs on five hits, striking out three.
Thomas Hunt pitched the last 1.2 innings to pick up the save. All five outs recorded by Hunt were via strike outs.
Coming up – Rams continue their spring break trip in Davenport, FL with a doubleheader against Elms on Thursday. First game begins at 2:00 pm.
