MOUNT VERNON –
Brynn Miroslavich found the back of the net with 2:43 left in overtime to give Cornell women's lacrosse the come from behind 11-10 win over North Central (2-5) at Van Metre Field at Ash Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (1-5) trailed North Central 7-2 at half. Cornell picked up goals from
Cassie Clay (assisted by
Ava Ferencz) and
Kimora Florence in the first half. Florence's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Cornell came out in the second half looking to change the narrative. The Rams sent an early message when Miroslavich scored one of her four goals, 1:13 into the third quarter (assisted by
Hailey Sieler). Ferencz found the net twice to end the quarter, moving Cornell within three heading into the fourth period.
The Rams outscored the Cardinals 5-2 in the fourth quarter, to set up Miroslavich heroics in overtime. Miroslavich scored twice for the Rams in the fourth.
Natalie Hudgins,
Evi Reedy and
Alex Neely each scored once. Clay picked up her second assist of the afternoon on Reedy's goal.
Cornell picked up 24 ground balls, with
Ilsa Jeffery leading the way with five. Ferencz picked up four lose balls, with
Kailey McFarlin and Neely each had three. Jeffery led the Rams with four caused turnovers. Hudgins won five draw controls.
Coming up – The Rams travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. on Wednesday to face Marian (1-6, 0-0 NACC) in their first NACC game of the season. Game time is 4:00 pm.
