MOUNT VERNON – The Rams recognize three seniors (
Caden Lynch,
Ben Schwartz and
Brandon Warnke) playing their final home game at Ash Park Field at Ash Park Saturday prior to taking the field to face a tough Illinois Tech team, falling 17-4.
The Scarlet Hawks (6-8, 6-2 NACC) scored five times in the first quarter, before junior
Tyler Foster found the back of the net for the Rams (3-9, 1-7 NACC) at the beginning of the second period.
Foster would finish with all four goals for the Rams, scoring twice more in the third period and once in the fourth.
Kaden Weaver assisted two of the goals and
Kayden Kuan had an assist.
Cornell picked up 28 ground balls, with
Ace Rivera,
Brandon Warnke and Weaver leading the way with four each.
Ben Schwartz picked up three loose balls. Weaver and Warnke each caused two turnovers for the Rams.
The Rams goalies
Nathan Diveley (45 minutes) and
Elias Notsch (15 minutes) faced 34 shots on goal from the Scarlet Hawks. Diveley finished with 14 saves and Notsch had three.
Coming up – The Rams travel to Verona, Wis. Wednesday to face Edgewood (2-10, 2-6 NACC). Game time is 6:00 pm.
