Foster nets 4 goals in road loss to postseason-bound Foresters

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Cornell junior Tyler Foster continued his late-season surge with four goals in Saturday's 19-6 NACC loss to perennial men's lacrosse power Lake Forest at Farwell Field.

Foster netted three of his shots in the fourth quarter as the Rams (3-11 overall, 1-9 NACC) finished strong after falling behind 9-1 at halftime. Foster now has 11 goals over his past three games, and a team-high 22 for the season.

Lake Forest (8-6 overall, 7-3 NACC) built a 14-2 lead with 5:41 left in the third period before Cornell's offense got on track. Charley Kobets scored off an assist from Caden Lynch late in the third, and then Foster recorded a hat trick during a five-minute stretch in the fourth.

Thomas Cobar accounted for the lone first-half goal for Cornell, which was outshot 52-26 for the day. Foster and Ace Rivera shared team-high honors with five ground balls apiece. Rivera also led the team with two caused turnovers.

Cornell goalie Nathan Diveley registered 18 saves over 48 minutes. Elias Notsch allowed three goals in relief. Ben Wojewski won 17-of-28 faceoffs.

The Foresters had 14 players score in the contest.

Coming up – The Rams wrap up the season Wednesday under the lights at the University of Dubuque (5-9 overall, 3-6 NACC). Game time is 7 p.m.
