CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell baseball team faced off against non-conference foe Coe Wednesday in Bremner Cup match up at Daniels Park-Bill Quinby Field, falling 19-7.
The Rams took an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning on four hits.
Jackson Hill started the game off with a double to right field, scoring on a
Caleb Smith's ground out to the pitcher.
Thomas Hunt,
Lucas Head and
Jimmy Moltini each singled in the first.
Cornell scored twice in the top half of the third to go up 7-4, before Coe (20-12) scored seven in the bottom half of the third to secure the win.
Hill led the Rams at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring a run and knocking in one. Hunt and Moltini each finished with two hits, with Moltini hitting a double. Head scored twice for Cornell.
Coming up – Rams continue their quest for a MWC tournament bid on Saturday and Sunday against Ripon in a three-game series. Saturday's double header starts at 12:00 pm, with a single game on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
