MOUNT VERNON – The Rams took an early lead on Beloit (5-6, 2-5 NACC) Wednesday at Van Metre Field at Ash Park, before falling 12-5.
The Buccaneers found the net first scoring at the 11:28 mark of the first period. Cornell (3-8, 1-6 NACC) then rolled off two straight goals to take the lead 2-1 at the end of the first period.
Junior
Charley Kobets scored for the Rams at the 9:44 mark of the first. Junior
Tyler Foster then scored his 11
th goal of the season on an assist from
Brandon Evilsizer.
Beloit outscored Cornell 4-1 in the second quarter to seal the victory. Evilsizer scored the lone gone for the Rams in the second period on an assist from Foster.
Kaden Weaver scored an unassisted goal for the Rams in the third period. Kobets scored his team leading 17
th goal of the season in the fourth.
Cornell secured 44 ground balls to Beloit's 43, with
Ben Wojewski, Kobets, Foster and
Ben Schwartz leading the way with five each.
Brandon Warnke and
Soren Williams each picked up four lose balls.
The Rams finished with 12 caused turnovers,
Ace Rivera led the team with four.
Eoghan Adams and Schwartz each caused two.
Nathan Diveley played all 60 minutes in the net, finishing with 12 saves on 24 Buccaneers shots on goal.
