MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell Esports team had its Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and League of Legends Teams seasons begin their NECC seasons in Block 2 while Valorant competed in the Midwest Esports Conference Playoffs.
The No. 7 ranked Valorant team fell to the No. 2 Clarke University in the first round of the Midwest Esports Conference Valorant Playoffs, 2-0. The Midwest Esports Conference consolation rounds will take place at a later date with the Rams taking on No. 6 Simpson.
Overwatch 2 Varsity started its season undefeated with three wins against UW-Eau Claire, 3-0, the University of Missouri, 3-2, and Wayne State College, 3-2.
Rocket League played in the UNI Fall 2023 Rocket League and qualified for the LAN tournament at UNI on Saturday.
The Cornell League of Legends Varsity team competed in the 2023 College League of Legends (CLOL) Warmup which gave the Rams an opportunity to compete against other institutions from around the country.
In the CLOL Warmup, the Rams competed against the University of Guelph, Texas Tech University, NJIT, and DePaul University compiling a 1-3 record in the tournament, with some very close losses.
The overall record of the teams during Block 2 was the following: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate went 4-3 overall, Valorant went 1-5 overall, League of Legends went 2-3, Overwatch 2 went 3-0, and Rocket League went 2-4 overall.
