MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's wrestling program made its return into the Top 25 in Friday's
NCAA Division III Tournament Coaches' Poll by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
Coach
Brent Hamm's Rams climbed into the national rankings at No. 24 with 10.5 points. This is Cornell's first Top 25 ranking since the 2017-18 season.
The Rams also feature four wrestlers in the
NWCA Top 15 Individual Rankings, led by senior
Cael McLaren at No. 4 at 184 pounds. McLaren is 8-0 on the season with three technical falls.
Fifth-year Treyton Steffen (5-2) is No. 11 at 197. Junior heavyweight
Jackson Brinker (3-3) is ranked No. 12. Senior 149-pounder
Landon Card (6-2) debuts in the NWCA Poll at No. 12.
The Rams are 2-1 in dual competition, coming off lopsided wins last week over UW-Platteville (42-6) and Simpson (49-0).
Cornell wrestles at Saturday's Comet Duals in Olivet, Mich. The Rams face No. 13 Ohio Northern at 10 a.m., followed by meets against Olivet at 11:30 a.m., Heidelberg at 1 p.m. and John Carroll at 2:30 p.m.
