Clark, Schneider sweep top MWC women's tennis awards

| By:

MOUNT VERNON – The Midwest Conference announced its 2025 All-MWC Singles and Doubles Teams and annual award winners, and Cornell women's tennis is prominently featured.

Sophomore transfer Michaela Clark was named the MWC Player of the Year and MWC Newcomer of the Year, and also earned All-MWC honors in both singles and doubles. Junior twins Mac Graves and Tansy Graves were All-MWC selections in both singles and doubles for the second consecutive season. Head Coach Trent Schneider was voted MWC Coach of the Year.

Clark competed at the top of Cornell's lineup in both singles and doubles during her first collegiate season. She finished runner-up in the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles brackets at last weekend's MWC Individual Championships. Earlier in the fall, Clark and partner Mac Graves advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles at the ITA Midwest Regional, while Clark also reached the Round of 32 in singles.

Clark becomes just the second Cornell women's tennis player to be named MWC Newcomer of the Year (Cami Gricius, 2018) and the sixth Ram to earn Player of the Year honors (first since Marie Schutte in 2004).

Mac Graves collected the fourth and fifth All-MWC awards of her career and has now earned both singles and doubles recognition in back-to-back seasons. A three-time doubles and two-time singles honoree, Graves followed up her record-breaking sophomore year with a 22-10 mark this fall. She reached the ITA Midwest Regional Round of 16 in doubles for the second consecutive year, this time with Clark as her partner, and the two became the first Cornell players to be seeded in both the singles and doubles draws. Graves surpassed the 100-win milestone this fall and finished runner-up in No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles at the MWC Championships.

Tansy Graves also repeated as an All-MWC selection in both singles and doubles and is now a three-time singles and two-time doubles honoree. She posted an 18-11 record this fall, primarily at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. Graves earned her first conference medal with a runner-up finish in No. 2 doubles alongside partner Annika Dox at the MWC Championships. Earlier this fall, Graves clinched the deciding point in Cornell's win over rival Coe College – the program's first since 2004 – earning MWC Performer of the Week honors. She enters the spring season with 93 career victories.

Schneider, in his fifth season leading the Rams, was selected MWC Coach of the Year by his peers. He also earned the award in 2021.

Schneider guided the Rams to a 10-3 overall record and their third straight top-three conference finish. The Rams capped a historic fall with success at the ITA Midwest Regional, a victory over Coe for the first time in 21 years, an MWC No. 3 doubles title, and five additional runner-up finishes. This is the fifth time in program history Cornell has claimed the Coach of the Year accolade.

Cornell enters the MWC Team Tournament as the No. 3 seed to be contested on May 2, and will open spring competition on March 1.
