WAVERLY – Stacked up against a handful of regionally-ranked women's cross country teams Saturday, the Midwest Region's No. 6 Rams landed three individuals inside the top 30 and placed sixth overall at Wartburg's Dan Huston Invitational.
Sophomore
Lidia Dahlman was Cornell's front runner for the third time this season, crossing 15th out of 199 finishers. She covered the 6K course in 23:10.
Senior
Mackenzie Engbert ran well and placed 21st with a time of 23:49. Senior
Alyza Koppes finished 37th in 24:25.
Also scoring for the Rams was
Carley Seeley in 58th place (24:55) and
Zoe Peesel in 84th (25:42).
Sophie Stumbo was the sixth Cornell runner to break 26 minutes, taking 92nd in 25:58.
The Rams tallied 193 team points, edging No. 7 regionally-ranked Illinois Wesleyan by three. No. 28 nationally-ranked Central won the meet with 61 points, followed by Grinnell (89), Gustavus Adolphus (103), 20th-ranked Wartburg (111) and Division I Northern Iowa (122).
Molly Liston of Gustavus Adolphus was crowned individual champion in 21:45.
Coming up – The Rams compete at the Interregional Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 18 in Rock Island, Ill.
