CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell men and women's track and field participated in the Mustang DeBacker Invitational on Saturday. Rams men took 2
nd place and the women placed 3
rd at Plaster Athletic Complex.
Senior
Gabe Soda set a meet record in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:56.83.
Tyler Bilskie finished third in 4:07.14.
Caleb Schopen finished first in the 3000-meter steeple chase with a meet record time of 9:47.31. Cornell's 4X400 relay team (
Chase Staker,
Jaxin McGuire,
Currey Jacobs and
Jensen Meeker) eclipsed the meet record with a time of 3:21.10, to finish first.
Hadley Beaty picked up first in the 100-meters (10.90).
Gabe Hunt in the 800-meters (1:58.36),
Ike Claussen-Tubbs in the high jump (6' ¾") and the 4x100 team of (Jordan,
Austin Wilkins,
Adrien Mere and
Isaac Huelsenbeck) picked up second place finishes for the Rams.
Wallace Schmotzer picked up third place finishes in the 400 hurdles (59.43) and triple jump (41' 5 ¼").
Bri Osterson placed first in the javelin with a throw of 123' 11" for the Ram women.
Hailey Carolan picked up first in the long jump (16' 10" ¾"). Carolan also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.56.
Willow Ziegler in the 400-meters (59.56),
Ava Claussen-Tubbs in the 1500-meters (4:41.29) and
Carley Seeley in the 3000-meter steeple chase (12:28.00) picked up second place finishes for Cornell.
Sophie Stumbo finished third in the steeple chase with a time of 12:35.31.
Coming up – The Rams compete Thursday at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola. Followed by the Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday in Des Moines.
