MONMOUTH, Ill. – Cornell men and women's track and field participated in the Fighting Scots Invitational on Saturday, preparing for the MWC Championships next Friday and Saturday in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Junior
Hailey Carolan led the Ram's women, placing first in the high jump (5'-6"). Carolan's mark ranks seventh in the NCAA Division III this season.
Carolan finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.56) and ran the opening leg of the 4x400 relay (Carolan,
Mackenzie Engbert,
Katie Lammers and
Alexa Hugart) that finished second (4:20.76).
Senior
Bri Osterson finished second in the javelin throw (116'- 5") and
Maya Hodge jumped 28'-9 ¼" to place second in the triple jump.
Cornell women picked up third place finishes from
Alexa Hugart in the 400-meters (1:04.70),
Olivia Cotton in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.44),
Mackenzie Engbert in the 1500-meters (5:01.90) and the 4x100 relay team of Cotton,
Sia Bear, Hugart and
Annie Quesnell (53.46).
Leading the Cornell men was the 4x100 team of Dallas Hernandez,
Hadley Beaty,
Jensen Meeker and
Chase Staker which finished first with a school record time of 42.14. They broke the record of 42.25 which was set earlier this season.
The Rams also received first place finishes from
Chase Staker in the 400-meter (49.34) and
Luke Wiley in the 3000-meter steeple chase (11:00.32).
Ethyn Chesnut picked up a second-place finish in the 5000-meters (16:20.43).
Ava Claussen-Tubbs participated in the 800-meter at the Musco Twilight in Iowa City on Saturday evening. Claussen-Tubbs finished third, breaking her school record set in 2024 by three seconds with a time of 2:12.65.
Coming up – The Rams compete in the MWC Championships next Friday and Saturday in Appleton, Wisc. The meet starts at 12:30 on Friday and 10:30 on Saturday.
