Rams handle Lawrence at home, 87-46

MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's basketball team dominated Midwest Conference foe Lawrence in all facets for an 87-46 runaway victory Friday night in the Small Multi-Sport Center. 

The Rams (8-4 overall, 5-1 MWC) kept pace with league leader Ripon (8-5, 6-1 MWC), which the Rams host Saturday at 3 p.m. in a battle for first place in the MWC. Cornell won the first meeting, 46-39, in Ripon, Wis.

Cornell received scoring contributions from 13 players against the Vikings (3-11, 1-5 MWC), led by a game-high 13 points from Anne Visser (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa), who connected on three 3-point goals. Diamond Boyd (SR/Elk Grove Village, Ill.) netted 12 points and freshman Alison Kelly (FR/Lake Forest, Calif.) added 11 points off the bench with three trifectas.

The Rams were on their mark from long range, draining 11-of-25 3-pointers. Seven different Rams made a 3-point goal.

Cornell owned a 43-29 advantage on the boards and converted 22 Lawrence turnovers into 32 points. Cornell outscored the visiting team in bench points, 40-12.

Kandis O'Donnell (JR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) turned in another solid all-around game with eight points, seven rebounds and four steals. Olivia Tolmen (FR/Union Mills, Ind.) and Sophia Hollingsworth (FR/Gladstone, Ore.) had five rebounds apiece.

The Rams led 19-10 after one quarter and 41-26 at the half. Cornell finished the night on a 28-4 fourth-quarter blitz.
