MOUNT VERNON – Two of the most accomplished offensive players in Cornell men's soccer history were honored Thursday on the
2024 All-Midwest Conference Teams.
Senior attacker
George Archer landed on the All-MWC First Team for the fourth consecutive season. Senior teammate
Aidan Lerch earned a spot on the All-MWC Second Team, also as an attacker.
Archer joined Pete Stachow (1982-85) as the only Rams ever to gain first team all-conference status four years in a row. Lerch collected his third all-conference award, the eighth Cornell player to achieve that feat. He was first team in 2023 and second team in 2022.
Archer shattered school records for points (98) and goals (41) in a career, while finishing second in assists (16). He reached those milestones in 59 matches through four seasons.
Archer netted a team-best 10 goals and 23 points in his final campaign, ranking among the MWC's top five in both categories. His 2.60 shots per match were second-most in the league. Archer scored seven goals in seven MWC contests, highlighted by a hat trick against Monmouth Oct. 9.
Lerch started 49 matches over his three seasons with the Rams. He finished among Cornell's career leaders in points (46, eighth), goals (18, ninth) and assists (10, fifth).
Lerch totaled 13 points this fall, scoring five goals and dishing three assists. He accounted for four points in the team's 4-0 shutout win over Beloit Sept. 28.
Coach
Nate Grosse's Rams finished the season 4-12-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the MWC. Seven of the team's defeats were decided by a single goal.
